Tour to the Danakil Depression

Destination: Dallol,ErtaAle & Afdera 

Duration: 4days/3 nights

Day 1

In the morning wedrive 260 km via Berhale we reach Hamadella, which is called "basecamp" located in the desert and only 25km away from Dallol. We have lunchon the way and stop at some places where you can enjoy a very impressive viewand you meet the first camel caravans. In Berhale we stop to finalize paperprocess with administer. On arrival in Hamadella we proceed to Lake Asale tosee the spectacular view of the sunset reflection. We spend the 1st night onlocal afar-beds, open air under the stars or in a wooden cottage. 

 Day 2

After breakfast earlyin the morning we start our journey to visit different places like the colorfulsalt lakes and thermo active springs of Dallol, potash, sulfur and otherminerals, the wide white salt desert, pure natural designed salt mountain andthe field where the Afar people are harvesting the salt in the traditional wayand where the camel caravans start their long trek to towns like Berhale forthe salt business. After half day visitation of Dallol we drive to Abala, lunchwill be on the way.
 
 

Day 3

In the morning wedepart at 9am from Abala, We drive 245 km to reach to the bottom of the volcanowhere the cars can't drive further. In the evening we start 3 up to 4 hourswalking to the top of the volcano with joining different partners during thetour. We will visit the lava lake and camp on local huts made up of stones.
 

Day 4

We walk down to the camp at the bottom of the volcanohave breakfast and we drive to Afdera to swim in lake Afrera and take bath in anaturally hot spring water near by the lake. After lunch drive back to Mekelle.

Destination:Afdera, Dallol & ErtaAle

Duration: 4days/3 nights

Day 1

in the morning we drive210km to reach Afdera. On the way we will have our lunch. We swim in the LakeAfrera & take bath in a natural hot spring water found near by the lake.

Day 2

In the morning, we enjoy Lake Afrera and see how to harvest the saltin a modern way & we can swim and take bath again in this day. After lunch,we proceed to ErtaAla via Kesrawat. In Kesrawat, we will pick other fourspecial forces with us till we drop them back in the next day. In the bottom ofthe volcano, we will take some time till the sun goes down. After diner, westart hiking of 9.5km (around 3 hours) to reach on the top of mountain, ErtaAleVolcano.

Day 3

We walk down to the camp at the bottom of thevolcano, have breakfast and drive back to Hamadella, where we reach in theafternoon. Lunch will be served in Abala town. We walk around the Afar village“Hamadella” to show you how the people live and survive in the conditions ofthe desert. You have time to buy souvenirs, take pictures of the Afar and theirvillage and you´ll see plenty of the camel caravans.

Day 4

After breakfast early in the morning we startour journey to visit different places like salt lakes, the colorful salt lakesand thermo active springs of Dallol, potash, sulfur and other minerals, thewide white salt desert, a cave pure natural designed rocks, Lake Assale andLocal Salt mining. After visitation, we have our lunch on the way then driveback to Mekelle.
